“Goodwood Festival of Speed Sculptures”
Since Crate47 first re-branded Littlehampton Welding Ltd we have worked closely with them to promote the phenomenal work they do at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, celebrating the diverse history of motor-sport. Every year a brand new centrepiece sculpture is created, featuring some of the most prestigious car brands in the world.
From 2004 to the present day Littlehampton Welding Ltd have fabricated and installed these huge structures designed by the renowned sculptor Gerry Judah. Each individual sculpture is completely different from the last and invariably inspire awe and delight in the many visitors to the annual event at Goodwood in West Sussex.
Over the years these amazing automotive works of art have featured many of the great names of motor sport including Audi, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Lotus and Porsche. In 2014 the enormous central feature had two Mercedes-Benz cars appearing to fly over Goodwood House.
The following year two Mazdas took off skyward leaving a twisting and turning trail behind them formed by a 40m high stack of gleaming white metal bars. And in 2016, in celebration of BMW’s centenary, the central feature was an array of soaring spikes shooting up and out in all directions.
Crate47 have photographed each of these impressive sculptures since 2012 and have showcased them on the new website we created for Littlehampton Welding. In 2016 we recorded the whole on-site construction using time lapse photography as well as still photography.
In addition to this we created a video to promote the reveal of the sculpture for the festival launch which revealed tantalising shots of the BMW sculpture. Aerial footage taken by our state of the art drone meant we could film using full 360º rotation which produced some stunning panoramic views and dramatic shots taken from unusual vantage points.
“The guys at Crate47 were fantastic very professional yet really friendly and good fun to work with”
