Web design for Law firm Five Paper Chambers
Five Paper are an established barrister chambers based in the heart of London’s historic law district of Temple. They approached Crate47 to entirely re-design and build a completely new, bespoke website using their existing branding.
The site had to be fully responsive and work seamlessly across every type of platform. It also needed a CMS back end to enable the Five Paper staff to update the site easily themselves whenever they needed to. To achieve these features we built the site on WordPress. With a combination of quality content and a clean, contemporary feel we aimed to promote Five Paper’s considerable heritage as well as their exceptional credentials as a 21st Century law practice. With this in mind we developed ‘accordion’ style expandable boxes that allowed more detailed information to be revealed by clicking on short headings which meant that individual pages could be kept clutter free without compromising the necessity for more substantial material to be accessible.
To make things straightforward for visitors to the site we also created an easy to use find a Barrister system – filtered by practice area as well as a function that orders the barristers either by the year called or by their name (A-Z). An added function we set up was for every barrister to be able to amend their profile page whilst automatically updating the related PDF which visitors can download or print.
We focused on clear headlines and strong, imagery to promote what the chambers do, who their clients are and the particular areas of practice. Photography was used extensively throughout the whole website – our own team of photographers creating every image. This meant that we could maintain the highest calibre of work in addition to a consistency of style.
We used architectural and exterior shots of the surrounding prestigious area of Temple to lend some gravitas to the overall feel of the site and group shots of members of the team at work to bring out the people aspect of the chambers. Other, more ambient, interior images were also used to maintain a distinctive look. For the profile pages every barrister had a three quarter length portrait done to help bring out their individual personalities and highlight their specialist areas of expertise. To set Five Paper apart visually from their competitors and catch the attention of site visitors we developed a photographic parallax feature on their Home page where the clouds slowly move in the sky behind their distinctive building.
