The Chimney Cake Bakers

Crate47 recently completed quite a cool coffee shop branding project that not only fed our imagination but also our stomachs.

We were approached by the Chimney Cake Bakers, a London based company who were planning to open up a coffee shop franchise that would predominantly sell chimney cakes, a cylindrical pastry traditionally sold as an Eastern European street food. We were tasked with the creation of their entire brand identity from the logo through to the website, menus and sign.

Conscious that the brand was to be used as a franchise model, we create a brand identity that was bold and instantly recognisable. yet with a the floral gypsy pattern (a homage to the Chimney Cakes Eastern European roots) helping to soften the branding.

It was the first time we had worked along side our sister company Liqui Design, as well as the shop fit team at Pentagram Shopfitting. This collaboration meant between us we had complete design control though out the whole project, from the creation of the brand through to the design and manufacture of the interior of the cafe and furniture. This enabled continuity throughout the project, the stools that Liqui designed are a perfect example of this, where the pattern we designed was used to create a custom fabric for the stool tops.
